SOUTHERN LUZON MISSION CONDUCTS 35th GENERAL SESSION
The Southern Luzon Mission's 35th General Session held at Naga View Adventist College (NVAC) in Panicuason, Naga City officially opened on the evening of May 27, 2009 with the keynote message of Pastor Nestor D. Dayson, president. As reflected by this session's theme, "Mission of Hope", the president related that despite the challenges, crisis, changes and difficulties of life there is still hope for us in Christ Jesus.

There were 107 delegates representing the different districts together with the district pastors, teachers-in-charge, SLM staff and North Philippine Union Conference administration, departmental directors and guests.

The opening of the session was highlighted by candle lighting with all the guests and delegates while singing the theme song, "Go, Light Your World". Due to time constraints, every minute counted. Plans and recommendations were approved after constant and active deliberations by the participating official delegates.

Organizing and nominating committees were immediately formed and elected the following directors with their corresponding departments:

    Publishing/SOP/ADRA Bro. Lemuel O. Belga
    Youth/AMICUS/SS/PM/ASI Pastor Edgardito Franche
    Health/Family/SI Mrs. Nelia B. Garrado
    Women/Communication/PARL Mrs. Edena N. Lumbao
    CHM/Education/Music Mr. Gerson D. Ramirez
Ministerial/Stewardship/Global Mission Pastor Mardoquio M. Rosacina
    Philanthropic/Human Resource(Ex. Sec) Pastor Eliseo R. Garrado
Livelihood (President) Pastor Nestor D. Dayson

The laymen elected to represent the province in the executive committee were:
    Albay Bro. Romy Penaflor
    Sorsogon Engr. Nevin L. Buena
    Catanduanes Felizardo Teves
    Camarines Sur Bro. Emmanuel Catimbang
    Camarines Norte Hiracleo Villaflor
    Burias Island Bro. Medardo Renzales

There were some realignment from the district pastors and teachers. Three districts namely, North & South, West and Central Albay were merged into two and became West and Central Albay only.

After the two-day session (May 28-29), the delegates recommitted to go and light the world and be channels of the mission of hope. (ENL)
